Before you begin removing the old sink you should ensure that you have the correct measurements for the new sink. Keep in mind that not all sinks have the same measurements. Attaining the correct assessments will assist in finding a sink that will match the shape and size of the one that was removed. If you choose a sink that is bigger or smaller than your original one, you may need to replace the counter-top as well. A larger sink is better as it will require you to create additional space for the sink instead of replacing the entire counter-top.
There are five main types of bathroom sinks that you can choose from for your bathroom. Each one is better suited to different types of bathrooms. You need to think about who will be using the bathroom, how big the bathroom is, and your decorating style to help you choose the appropriate sink. The five types are vanity sinks, pedestal sinks, vessel sinks, console sinks, and wall mounted sinks.
You will actually want to install faucet hardware into the sink before you place it into the counter. The faucet should come with instructions for that particular model, and we recommend following the manufacturer’s directions. Test the swing of the faucet now before you tighten the nuts and bolts. This is also when you’ll install the strainer into the drainhole of your new sink, usually with plumber’s putty. Be sure that both of these items are watertight - you don’t want a leak!
Kitchen sinks are primarily broken up into two distinctive styles, drop in and the now popular undermount sinks. The drop in sink is the most versatile because it can be utilized in any countertop surface, whereas the undermount is primarily restricted to solid surface countertops. The hottest sink on the market for style today is without a doubt the stainless steel undermount sink because it gives a very clean line to the countertop and is now the option of choice for most new homes with granite and other types of solid surface.
A good number of kitchen sinks are made from stainless steel. Such models are held in position using clips on the underside of the counter-top. This means that the clips you used for your old sink can be used to mount the new sink. If you cannot use them you should request for clips from the store you bought your sink from.
