There are many reasons that parents may decide to home school their children. They may have issues with the particular school district in which they live. They may live in a bad neighborhood and do not want their children to be influenced by some of the other children in the schools. They may also want their children taught the particular religion that the parents follow in the midst of the children’s schooling, but do not have enough money to send the children to a private religious school. There is sometimes the case when the children get older that they start to have problems in the school system, getting in trouble or getting poor grades. This might cause the parents to reevaluate the public school system and pull the child out to home school him.
Options
There are many options for parents to use in home schooling curriculums. There are some free home schooling curriculums that can be found today that are helpful to parents that do not have a lot of money to spend on the text books. These free versions are helpful but usually require supplemental materials through other curriculums to make sure there are not any gaps in the children’s education in a particular subject area.
There are also some Christian home school curriculums that can be found that help parents to weave the Christian beliefs through every subject that is taught. They also often help the parents to teach study of the Bible as one of the subjects so that the children are well aware of all that is in that important book. These Christian home school curriculums can be found in accredited versions so that they have been checked out by educational boards and found to be a comprehensive system of teaching children what they need to know. Some of these accredited Christian home school curriculums are by ABeka, ACE, Alpha Omega, Bob Jones and Calvert.
There are also some non accredited but still very solid Christian home school curriculums that are found on the market today such as the Christian Light Education, Christian Liberty Press, Rod and Staff, Sonlight and Robinson Curriculum. These non accredited Christian home school curriculums often have need of supplemental materials in certain areas, but that is where the free materials can come in handy. Parents will also often need to buy manipulative materials for teaching math skills and other kits for teaching science experiments.
