There are a wealth of resources that can be found through different organizations on the internet as well as by contacting certain organizations and asking for their materials. The National Endowment for Humanities offers many free home school curriculum materials that can be used either as a supplement to other curriculums or as the core of a particular curriculum. Many of these free home school curriculums will need to be used with other versions on a particular subject because the curriculums are not accredited and do not necessarily offer a comprehensive look at a particular subject, especially if used from one grade level to the next.
Becoming a part of a home schooling group is another way to gain some free home schooling curriculum materials since each parent usually uses something a little different with their children. By going to these groups, the parents and children are able to interact with each other and share ideas and curriculum materials with each other, thus reducing the cost for all. Parents will often have children of an age on one side or the other of other parents and can thus start passing down curriculum materials as they are finished with them. Thus, although the materials are not free to begin with, as time goes on, the home school curriculum becomes free for those with younger children.
